The Book Of Mormon Makes Its Return To Philly Stage

'The Book of Mormon' makes its return to Philly stage

South Philly venue puts up Tony-winning Broadway musical through New Year's Eve

Landmark comedy follows young Mormon missionaries on an unexpected adventure

After a six-year absence, the Tony-winning musical comedy "The Book of Mormon" is returning to Philadelphia.

"The Book of Mormon," the brainchild of "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, along with "Avenue Q" songwriter Robert Lopez, has been a smash hit since it opened on Broadway in 2011. The musical has won nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and has been seen by over 10 million people worldwide.

The story follows two young Mormon missionaries, Elder Price and Elder Cunningham, as they are sent to a remote village in Uganda. The missionaries are filled with optimism and faith, but they quickly realize that the villagers are not as receptive to their message as they had hoped.

"The Book of Mormon" is a sharp and funny satire of organized religion, but it also has a heart. The musical explores the themes of faith, friendship, and the search for meaning in life.

The Philadelphia production of "The Book of Mormon" will play at the Kimmel Cultural Campus' Academy of Music from November 15 through December 31.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at the Kimmel Cultural Campus website or by calling 215-790-5800.
