Idaho Gas Station Explosion Injures Multiple, Destroys Building

Community Reels as Firefighters Battle Blaze

Explosion Levels Convenience Store, Hinders Emergency Response

A massive explosion ripped through a gas station in north-central Idaho on Monday, injuring multiple people and destroying the building. The blast, which occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the small town of Kamiah, sent flames and debris flying into the air and caused significant damage to nearby structures.

Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to the scene and battled the blaze for hours, but the intense heat and flames made it difficult to contain. At least two people were transported to the hospital with serious injuries, and authorities believe there may be more victims trapped inside the wreckage.

The explosion, which leveled the convenience store and caused extensive damage to a nearby apartment building, has left the community in shock. Residents reported hearing a loud boom and feeling the ground shake, and many rushed to the scene to help in the aftermath.

The cause of the explosion is still under investigation, but authorities believe it may have been caused by a propane leak. The Idaho State Fire Marshal's Office is on scene assisting with the investigation.

The explosion has also caused significant traffic disruptions in the area, as Highway 12, a major thoroughfare in the region, was closed for several hours while emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage.

The Idaho Red Cross has set up a shelter at the Kamiah Community Center for those who have been displaced by the explosion. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Idaho State Police.
